Shooting Exercise Two: Lightscapes

The purpose of this assignment was to experiment with different lighting patterns for shooting these photographs. I used natural lighting for majority of these photographs because I was around nature a lot.

 This is an example of backlighting with the sun being behind the tree. I was drawn to taking this photograph by the way the sun was lighting up the tree and the foliage around it. 

This photograph was taken with diffused lighting from the sun peaking through the clouds onto Lake Michigan.

This photograph uses artificial light from a propane lantern to backlight the picnic table.

This photograph uses natural light and back lights the wood in the fire pit. 

This photograph uses natural light from the sun to back light some of the leaves, and also diffuses light through the leaves. 

Natural light is used in this photograph. The shadows of the trees was the inspiration for this shot across Lake Michigan. This is an example of side lighting

The sun reflecting off the water of Lake Michigan drew me to this picture. The different levels in the foreground and background adds a level of interest into this photograph. The foliage, water, and islands in this photograph are back light. 

With leaves changing with the beginning of fall, the sun lights up the leaves and creates shadows which bring out the changing colors. This photograph uses front lighting from the sun.
